Hi everyone,
I hope your christmas was amazing! I spent it at home, shoving all of the family visits into one busy day. Father Christmas has truly exceeded himself this year-obviously highighting L'artisan parfumeur and Selfridges as the most crucial of stops on his journeys.
American Apparel has reered it's beautiful head in the form of a gorgeous yellow clutch bag-yellow being my faviourite colour of the moment. It reminds me of the minamilistic celine clutch-I will pair it with dark clothing, as the pop of colour will bring drama. However, i also plan on using it to turn a shouting outfit into a screaming one.
I'd also like to pay a well-deserved tribute to my new black, knee-high boots; white faux fur gilet; striped top; yellow jumper and fabulously over the top statement necklace-all currently lying smugly in my bedroom. The necklace has proved it's versatility-seemingly suiting everything it is paired with.
recently, I bought a cold-shoulder black dress (very seethrough at the back-will need to be worn over a slip), a shredded-shoulder black jumper and some much-hankered after ankle boots. The boots will perfectly replace my everyday shoes of suede studded pumps-not ideal for London's current apocalyptic rain-and hopefully a metal belt will cut the dress's shapelessness sucessfully.
Love from Dido xx
p.s: sorry this is such a boring post, I will hopefully make it up to you soon!

Note to self
Hi guys,
I finally got tickets to Hollywood costume at the V&A. the curation was incredible-achieveing the perfect mix of the familiar (fashion) and the entirely unknown (technology). I was instantly drawn in by Holly Golightly's iconic black dress-adressing my current infatuation with thigh-slit skirts. Perfect for girls with long legs, a slitted skirt allows for just a tease of limb to be seen. Teamed with most tops, these are inevitably chic.
-Buy a slit skirt
Many of the featured films were ofcourse, in black and white-dictating the dye with a smothering of grey.
-Embrace colour, your life is not in monochrome
Venturing further into the v&a, there was a photographic exhibiton entitled 'light from the middle east'. The difference in culture inspired me to promote the beautiful embroideries and textiles of other countries-exotic design being a only a rare grace to the streets of London.
-cover each corner of the globe

The 90's
has anyone noticed that the 90's is having a revival? (if a very controversial one) Take a visit to your nearest American Apparel or the cobra shop and you'll see exactly what i mean. Pink, fluffy keyrings and angora jumpers should definitley not still be around, but somehow they are-and it really works!
I love the sense of humour in parading your inner tackiness (see bedazzled phone cases and miu miu sparkle) whilst having the reasurement that you're managing to pull it off. After all, there can be no denying that there's an inevitable positivity around those seeing the world through literal rose-tinted glasses.
Saying this, the line between wardrobe humour and of those who simply have never ventured out of the 90's, is very fine.
I don't know if i can be fully trusted, but here are my tips for chanelling your inner cluelessness:
1) Keep it understated by mixing in modern acessories-or by donning a modern centrepiece and dressing it up with fun acessories.
2) Choose your outfit wisely-some trends can be really unflattering. show extra caution around aerobic-wear, baggy sports jumpers, dungarees, backwards caps, high-wasted jeans, crop tops, long skirts and high leg swimsuits.
3) know yourself. Although baggy was cool, it can completely hide your figure. 90's bright colours are not for the faint-hearted and the murky, grunge colours can be equally as washing-out.
4) When approaching the scrunchie, take care. It's back-as recently confirmed by Cara Delevinge-but a full on hair scrape-back admittedly doesn't suit many.
5) Take inspiration from Cher Horowitz, Kelly and Donna-90210, Azealia banks, Eliza Doolittle and Riley Keough.
6) Keep fur and feathers chic by choosing minimal makeup and keeping the rest of your look simple.
7) Be able to laugh at yourself-your outfit will scream playfullness, so live up to the expectation! Hold your head up high, believe that you look amazing-I'm sure you will!

p.s: Don't forget to comment your thoughts on the 90's trend and tell me if the tips work!
